Workers Compensation Commission Approves an Updated Provider Manual SCOA Effective Advocates Against a Maximum Allowable Payment for IMEs

The Workers Compensation Commission approved an updated fee schedule during their meeting on August 15th.   A copy of the announcement from the Commission is below.

2016 Medical Services Provider Manual Fee Schedule
The Commission approved a revision to the Medical Services Provider Manual (MSPM) to reflect 2016 Resource Based Relative Values (RBRVS) issued by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) and the American Medical Association’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes. Included in the approval is a Conversion Factor of $50 and no change to the Maximum Allowable Payments (MAP) for an Independent Medical Examination (IME). The IME fee will remain rated as Individual Consideration. The effective date is September 1, 2016.

The SCOA submitted written comments opposing the proposal to re-introduce a Maximum Allowable Payment for IMEs.   We are pleased that the Commission voted to maintain the current practice of individual consideration/negotiation for IME fees.

A link to the updated fee schedule has not been placed on the Commission website as of yet.  But once available it can be found here.
